OK, here’s how it all came together – travelling the world in 2011, I was inspired by fellow travellers’ reversible skirts, particularly in Berlin.
Their functionality and practicality struck a cord.
While living in London I stumbled across some African wax print fabric in Brixton. I was instantly smitten with these distinctively patterned and vividly coloured prints.
Returning home to New Zealand’s South Island, I got to work and was soon supplying friends, and the yoga and cycling community in Wanaka with fabulous one-of-a-kind simple, handmade fashion: funky on one side but classic and formal on the other.
From this unlikely global amalgam grew Ngati Fifi Skirts – practical, functional, inspired, bold and most importantly wearable art skirts.
Created in Australia and New Zealand by a bunch of local chicks.
